Flying Monsters 3D with David Attenborough

Atlantic Productions / Sky 3D (2011)

This award winning film marked Sir David Attenborough's first foray into 3D, and the result is a ground breaking feature length Natural History feature that fascinated audiences worldwide.

A beautiful blend of natively captured live action 3D, and impressive CGI - the film journeys back to prehistoric times traces the origins of the pterosaurs and unravel the mystery of flight as we know it. Amazing material captured on location in North America, Europe and around the UK, is cleverly combined with state of the art animation to bring Mary Anning's famous fossils to life, to create a truly unique film.

Flying Monsters also marked Sky3D's launch into 3D production on a grand scale, premiering on Christmas Day 2010 - and becoming the cornerstone of the broadcaster's move into 3DTV. The film moved to Giant Screen Theatres to resounding acclaim, winning awards for Best 3D Program at the 2011 Jackson Hole Wildlife Festival and the 2012 Wildscreen Festival

Chris Parks, Angus Cameron and the Vision3 team worked closely with veteran producer Anthony Geffen to ensure that Sir David's first 3D production lived up to expectation. And Chris' 20 year background in making Natural History Film for Giant Screen theatres was a huge asset to the production.

The film was also recognised at IBC 2012 - with a special award recognising the technical achievements made in the 3D production
